Through the Window - Ft. Mckavett

Ft. McKavett located in Menard Co. established 1851 by the U.S. War Dept. to protect settlers from the Indians. Evacuated 1859, reoccupied 1868 and later abandoned for the last time 1883. This photo depicts the remains left behind with a newly replicated barracks thru the window.
