Through the Pecos Fence

Pecos, Tx. began because of wagon trails such as Butterfield Rte, Chisholm Trail, Loving-Goodnight and many others crossing here. Pecos was recorded as beginning in 1873 and became the wholesale center for 200 mis radius. During WWII Pecos was selected for the largest B1-13 Training Centers in the US because of its flat terrain and weather. To this day every other year it is the host to the Army Airfield Reunion. Pecos was also the home of the Gentleman Gunfighter, Clay Allison and one of the first rodeos.
