This old abandoned home found in Talpa, Tx. was located off Hwy 67 in western Coleman County. The town supposedly named for a large "catalpa tree" and developed because of the Santa Fe Railroad switching point. In 1940 population was 254 with 16 businesses but in 1980 declined to 122 population, 3 businesses and a post office. In the year 2000 population increased to 127 but would seem to me this small town may soon develop into a future ghost town of Texas. |
